Benny Szeghy is an undergraduate student majoring in geography with a focus in geospatial representation and a minor in geospatial information science and technology. As a geospatial scientist, he specializes in vector thematic analysis and mapping. At Schmidt DSE, he contributes to the GeoJupyter project, building supporting utilities for the jupyter-native geospatial science toolkit. He has previously worked on research related to civil liability for nuclear reactors, consent based siting for nuclear infrastructure, and 3-dimensional GIS modeling of archeobotanical data, and the human impacts of large-scale natural disasters. He is a passionate “map nerd” and loves thinking, talking, and doing anything geospatial science related.
