Max Taniguchi-King is a Research Data Analyst at the Eric and Wendy Schmidt Center for Data Science and Environment (DSE). He’s excited to be working with the National Park Service team on vegetation modeling and wildfire recovery tools. His work also focuses on climate–ecosystem relationships, investigating key environmental dynamics in a changing climate.

He recently graduated from UC Berkeley with degrees in Data Science and Environmental Earth Science. He’s passionate about using data science to help address the climate crisis and has interests in machine learning, climate dynamics, remote sensing, and ecology. In the past, he trained statistical models to emulate climate systems at the University of Washington and designed frameworks for estimating ecosystem productivity at UC Berkeley. He enjoys trying new recipes, spending time with friends and family, and taking naps.
